The controversial film Deshdrohi has been banned in Maharashtra for a period of two months. Meanwhile in Jharkhand, there emerged protests against this ban on the movie by the Maharashtra Government .

Produced by Bhojpuri actor Kamaal Khan, it deals with the injustice and discrimination meted out to the North Indians in Mumbai. However, it has turned very controversial following the campaign started by MNS leader Raj Thackeray against the North Indians staying in Mumbai city.

After watching the film at a special screening, the Mumbai police had suggested that the Maharashtra government impose a ban on the film fearing it may affect law and order in the state. The film has now been banned for two months after which it will be reviewed again.

Khan also plays the lead in the film. Apart from him, Deshdrohi stars Gracy Singh, Hrishita Bhatt, Rosa Catalano, Aryan Vaid, Ranjit, and Nirmal Pandey, among others.

In Jharkhand, Lok Janshakti Party activists protested against the ban of Deshdrohi and disrupted the screening of Hindi films in Ranchi . LJP leader Jitender Singh warned that his party activists would continue to disturb the screening of Bollywood films in the state till the ban on Deshdrohi is lifted.
