Farhan Akhtar, who had conquered the silver screen with Rock On is now busy capturing eye balls on the 'idiot box' with his latest show 'Oye! It's Friday!’

After having set the show afire with some of the greatest superstars of the silver screen in 2008, Farhan kicks off the New Year-2009 with none other than Bollywood's very own desi girl Priyanka Chopra! And the irony of the show happens to be the fact that it was Farhan who had directed Priyanka in the super hit film Don 2. A sneak-peak in this episode revealed that Priyanka truthfully revealed some interesting secrets and a rarely-revealed side to her personality.

In this same episode, Priyanka also got nostalgic and spoke about her early childhood days in India to studying in the US. Not just that, she spoke about her transformation from being the bullying older sister to a no-nonsense teen.

If that was not enough, the provocative Farhan actually put Priyanka to challenges which the cool girl took up and emerged as a winner.

Movie Review of Dostana

22:40 Posted by Cool Blogger

To start off, Dostana is not a gay movie. But it certainly is a happenning one. Something that can bring smile and even make you laugh at regular intervals. Dostana is essentially a love quadrangle with enough moments of friendship to justify its name.

This is the story of two guys Sam and Kunal played by Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. They meet by co-incidence and then decided to pose as a gay couple so that they are allowed to stay in Neha's (Priyanka Chopra) house. The story just takes off from here and then on moves through hilarious incidents before it touches the soft pad of emotions. Neha is introduced to Abhimanyu (Bobby) and romance happens. Of course, the two hot 'gays' in love can create havoc in any relationship.

The story of Dostana has its own extremely fresh approach. The screenplay works at adding the humour. And dialogues are wonderful too. But there are a few flaws also. The movie takes off with the audience being briefed about both Sam and Kunal's respective professions, but after that the professions just seem to be a part of jokes. Also the relationship between Neha and Abhimanyu is not really shown developing well.

Technically, Dostana looks superb. Cinematography has Ayananka Bose's has proved his brillianance. It looks bright and Miami is very appealing. The film is edited to look nice and cool - Manan Sagar does a good job in that. The music is rocking and peps you up. The costumes look bright and vibrant matching up to the attitude of the film and of course make all the actors look awesome. Akki Narula needs to be applauded for that.

On the performance front, Abhishek Bachchan (images)walks away with all the cerdit. He comes up with an outstanding performance. Dostana provides Abhishek and John (images) just the right vehicle to showcase certain expression they would have never shown otherwise. Priyanka Chopra (images)does well too, apart from looking sizzling. Bobby Deol does a good supporting job. And how can one forget Boman Irani. What perfection as a gay!

Dostana, is all in all is a fun film.

Priyanka Chopra's Dostana on the Cover of Verve

18:13 Posted by Cool Blogger

If one asks Priyanka Chopra a word that 'binds' Friendship, Company, Companionship, Dosti, Mitr etc...then,she simply rattles it out as 'Dostana'. And Miss Chopra is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to the film's promotion; so much that the latest edition of the fashion magazine 'Verve' has got her on the cover of and has even named the same as 'Dostana special'.

This issue is a special one for the whole of Verve team as it marks its grand Bollywood 'debut' with Dostana. The magazine also plays a key role in the movie. You can feast your eyes with 'Dostana specials' in the issue, which includes a fashion shoot on the film's Mumbai sets, the interpretation of Dostana's working woman executive through the lens of the skirt suit. If that was not enough, there is also a feature titled 'Miami Spice', which has the film's director Tarun Mansukhani offering some exclusive, behind-the-scenes dope from the sun-kissed beaches of Miami.

Besides all this, Priyanka also speaks about her 'relationship' with music. This issue also exhibits this super-actress' 'daughterly side' when she shuffled between her hectic shoots and her ailing father.

There's more and more to this Priyanka chic, which can be experienced best, the very moment you get a first hand experience... only in the latest edition of Verve.

Madhur Bhandarkar skips Gay Kissing scene

18:47 Posted by Cool Blogger

Madhur Bhandarkar is known for making hard-hitting and real life cinema; so is seldom facing controversies. His latest flick Fashion starring Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut and Mugdha Godse in lead roles opened across cinema halls yesterday and this time too, Madhur had to deal with a fair share of controversies.

Firstly, there were rumors that Kangna's character in the film has been inspired by noted Delhi based model Geetanjali Nagpal. Then the censor board irked Madhur by giving him an 'A' certificate as they felt the film had certain objectionable scenes for kids.

However, the director could have got himself into more trouble had he included a gay kissing scene in the film. The scene had actors Samir Soni and Anil Kumar share a kiss in a car but Madhur decided to drop the scene just on time. However, the director is planning to include it in the DVD of the film. Madhur has already started promoting the DVD of Fashion in a smart way.
