Priyanka Chopra has a fantastic start to 2009

It is just the fourth month of the year but Priyanka Chopra already has enough reason to say 2009 has been 'fantastic' for her. The star has already walked away with seven awards which also includes an international recognition.

Priyanka, who set the silver screen on fire with her scorching performance in 'Fashion' and 'Dostana', was bestowed the Nielsen Box Office Award for outstanding contribution to Asian cinema at the Third Annual Asian Film Awards held in Hong Kong last month.

She also walked away with the Filmfare best actress award for her performance as a supermodel in Madhur Bhandarkar's 'Fashion'. She also recieved the best actress award at the STAR Screen Awards, Lions Club Gold Awards as well as the Stardust Awards for the same performance.

Aapart, from this she also received an honour at the 10th Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Frames this year for her contribution to entertainment and was also given a best brand ambassador award at the NDTV Profit Car and Bike Awards.

And this is not it. With the upcoming IIFA Awards she can expect some more prizes.

Till then, she is busy with her upcoming films - Ashutosh Gowariker's 'What's Your Raashee?' opposite Hurman S. Baweja and Vishal Bharadwaj's 'Kaminay' alongside Shahid Kapur.

Madhur Bhandarkar skips Gay Kissing scene

Madhur Bhandarkar is known for making hard-hitting and real life cinema; so is seldom facing controversies. His latest flick Fashion starring Priyanka Chopra, Kangna Ranaut and Mugdha Godse in lead roles opened across cinema halls yesterday and this time too, Madhur had to deal with a fair share of controversies.

Firstly, there were rumors that Kangna's character in the film has been inspired by noted Delhi based model Geetanjali Nagpal. Then the censor board irked Madhur by giving him an 'A' certificate as they felt the film had certain objectionable scenes for kids.

However, the director could have got himself into more trouble had he included a gay kissing scene in the film. The scene had actors Samir Soni and Anil Kumar share a kiss in a car but Madhur decided to drop the scene just on time. However, the director is planning to include it in the DVD of the film. Madhur has already started promoting the DVD of Fashion in a smart way.

Mugdha has sweating palms for her debut in Fashion

Mughda Godse is feeling quite anxious, and quite understandably too.

The sexy model-turned-actress, who makes her debut in Madhur Bhandarkar's “Fashion”, is having some serious bouts of anxiety with the release date of her movie nearing.

As crazy as it may sound, the lady chopped off her hair recently and that too in the middle of the night.

"Well yeah, it's true I cut off my fringes. I am getting very nervous with the film release coming up ahead. Hopefully people will appreciate my work. I am really looking forward to it as well." Said Mugdha

The film’s looking good, at least if the promos are any indication. So what we can tell Mughda is to take it easy and keep calm!

Fashion awarded with 'A' certificate

National Award winning director Madhur Bhandarkar is furious and dejected. His most ambitious project Fashion will have a restricted audience as the Censor Board has granted an A certificate to the film.

The Censor Board saw Fashion last evening. After the screening, the board members categorically told Madhur that he can't even get a U/A certificate for this film if he does not delete at least six scenes, which they felt, were not fit for family viewing.

Due to this, Madhur and the Censor Board had a big showdown. Madhur also argued and tried to have his way, but the Censor Board did not relent.

Some of the scenes, which the Censor Board has raised an objection over are: Priyanka's lovemaking scene with Arjan Bajwa, Kangana's lovemaking scene with newcomer Deepak, and a few scenes where Priyanka-Kangana are smoking cigarettes and taking drugs.

Vinayak Azad confirmed the news and said, “There are some very intimate scenes filmed on Kangana and Priyanka with their respective partners. Moreover, both the actresses also are shown as drug addicts. While Priyanka is shown snorting cocaine, Kangana is shown snorting cocaine and taking a heroin injection too. I think the film should only be seen by those who are more than 15-years old.”

When contacted, Madhur said irately, “I had a lengthy discussion with the censors. I have depicted reality. I have even shown a rave party in the film. I have shown Ranvir Shorey taking drugs in Traffic Signal. Didn't Bipasha make love to Kay Kay Menon in my film Corporate? Didn't Page 3 have a rave party? But none of these films were given an A certificate? So why this holier than thou attitude now?”

Even though Fashion has an A certificate, Madhur has decided to not appeal to the Revising Committee. After coming out of the Censor Board office, Madhur spoke to Ronnie Screwvala, co-producer of Fashion.
